United Schools (United) is a nonprofit organization in Columbus, Ohio. After founding its first school in 2008, it has worked together with incredible leaders to open three more schools in the span of ten years. Each United campus is an open enrollment, public charter school that works diligently to close the opportunity gap in Columbus. United currently operates two high-performing elementary schools (K-5) and two high-performing middle schools (6-8) that serve more than 800 students. We strive to provide students with a rigorous academic experience in a joyful learning environment, and we work hard to ensure that students of all levels grow and succeed by focusing on intentional student support and continual improvement.
Position Description
At United Schools, the Alumni Services Department aims to create and continually improve high-quality support services to United alumni so they can access opportunity-rich lives in our society now and in the future. The Alumni Services Communications Intern is a part-time position that plays a vital role in supporting this aim by maintaining the team’s website, writing regular social media posts and a monthly newsletter, researching and sharing resources, and assisting with the upkeep of the Alumni Services database.

Qualifications:
- Holds a high school diploma; preference for a student working towards a four-year degree.
- Majors related to writing, communications, and/or digital marketing are a plus.
- Ideal candidates can work a hybrid schedule between work-from-home and in-person.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Adept at navigating social media trends and best practices on various platforms.
- Personal and professional integrity and adherence to the OSC Code of Ethics.
- Is open and committed to implementing frequent feedback from team members.
- Communicates effectively with students, alumni, families, and colleagues.
- Comfortability with Google products for effective communication and completion of job responsibilities.
Terms of Employment
- Although this position will begin June 2, 2025, applications will be considered immediately.
- This is a temporary, part-time position.
- Report times are flexible Mon-Fri, 7:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., for up to 20 hours per week.
- Compensation: $15/hr
